Pierre de verre Shapton, grain 1000, #50202.

210 mm x 70 mm, 5 mm d'épaisseur (l'épaisseur totale est de 10 mm : 5 mm d'abrasif collé sur une plaque de verre de 5 mm).

C'est une pierre superbe, un must absolu ! Coupe rapidement, est très dur et durable et laisse un superbe bord, prêt pour un raffinement facile et rapide avec une pierre plus fine. Les Glass Stones sont un vrai plaisir à utiliser, et extrêmement homogènes. Tout le monde aime cette pierre !

Shapton GlassStones coupe très rapidement et dure longtemps. L'abrasif en céramique est lié en permanence à une plaque de verre, de sorte que l'ensemble est très plat et très solide. L'abrasif est extrêmement constant et dense, vous avez donc une sensation agréable et pouvez produire des bords très précis et nets, en plus ceux-ci ont la commodité d'un affûtage par éclaboussures (ne pas tremper ces pierres).

Le support de pierre Shapton (vendu séparément) est conçu pour s'adapter parfaitement à ces pierres et est assez lourd et haut, offrant un excellent poste de travail. Le support de pierre universel/réglable Naniwa plus abordable fonctionne également très bien pour ces pierres.

Great for "Hard" Knives

I was having trouble sharpening my very hard Japanese knives (SG2 steel) with traditional stones, so it was suggested that I try these. I bought the 500 for stock removal and a mid-grit 1000 to try them out, and they are superb. The tactile feel is like no other stone I've ever used, and they make short work of the SG2 steel. I highly recommend these stones.

Good learning stone and forgiving

I bought this stone on this website a year ago so I have had time to use it quite a bit. Recently I have bought a flattening stone because my Shapton had lost efficiency. I have to say, after a year of moderate use and an hour of flattening, this stone is as good as new. It cuts really fast and uses quite slowly. As for the finition, it's a 1000 so not a mirror finish but it's a better finition then a lot is 1000 grit stones will give you.
