Shapton Professional Kuromaku 2000 Grit Sharpening Stone

12 items left

Shapton Kuromaku Professional Whetstone, 2000 Grit, #K0703

210mm x 70mm, 15mm thick.

These Kuromaku/Professional series stones are very fast cutting and long-lasting, offering nice sharpening feedback while still being very hard so they resist dishing nicely. Note that these are splash-and-go, so do not soak these stones.

These stones come in a convenient plastic case that also doubles as a stone holder, though the affordable Naniwa universal/adjustable stone holder also works fine for these stones and will certainly be more stable and secure.

Made in Japan.

Great progression or finishing stone

Feedback is decent, wears slow, cuts fast and is a great addition to the 3 stone set.
I finish softer steels at 2k and progress to 5k+ on harder steels.

KUROMAKU 2000

Excellent stone. Very good feedback and results. Good edge progression after the Kuromaku 1000. Best price and fast shipping.

Thanks for the feedback, and I'm very glad that you're pleased with the stone and the service!

new favorite stone

I am very pleased with this stone. 5 stars.
I have been sharpening with softer 800, 1200 and 4k King stones, and this is my first fast-cutting splash-and-go stone.
I bought this stone because it should be able to be used often to touch up my everyday knives, without removing too much material. Very seldom do I need to go back to 1k stones, and starting at 4K is probably too fine for touch-ups. This 2k brought a burr very quickly, and after a bit of stropping on the stone and then on a leather strop w/ green compound, I was very happy with the edges on the 5 knives that I touched up, and in just a few minutes (CrMoV, VG-10, Cobalt steel, and SG2). I'll be difficult to go back to soaking waterstones.
