This stone works very well if you need to remove a lot of metal for chip removal, profiling etc. It should not be the first step if you are just touching up an edge. It has performed well for me so far with no issues. It is quite rough so it can hold onto swarf. I noticed it turned a bit orange after sharpening some carbon steel knives due to not being able to "fully" clean it but it is only a cosmetic issue that will disappear with more use so do not worry if you notice it happening to your stones.
The stone itself is ~4.1mm thick. That would be my only mild complaint about all of the Edge Pro stones, they are thinner than what has become standard for the format, which is 1/4" or 6.3mm thick.
