An excellent choice for home or professional use. This size is big, but not overly long or difficult to handle. It's well-balanced and easy to hold and control. It's the ideal size for home or professional use, especially if you already have a santoku or smaller chef's knife. The handle (made of POM resin, so it's tough and won't absorb water or crack) is just the right size for the blade and the fit and finish are great, making this a fantastic value for someone looking for a quality Japanese made knife with high quality and yet easy-to-maintain molybdenum steel.

Please note that these are sharpened mostly on the right side and so are only suitable for right-hand use.
I have had it for about a month. I also have a slightly smaller chef's knife. I use this one for some of the larger projects that I work on. It is not too heavy and feels good in the hand. I am extremely happy with both of my purchases.
