DMT-DIAFLAT-95

DMT 10-Inch Dia-Flat Lapping Plate, 95 Micron / 160 Mesh (160 grit)

4 items left

A slightly less coarse version of the original 120 micron lapping plate, so it will leave a smoother finish on your very fine stones if you prefer this. Of course it won't work as fast though, so it's a compromise. Recommended for lapping 1000 grit and higher waterstones. Yes you can use it on coarser stones as well, but it will wear down the diamonds more quickly, so if you do a LOT of sharpening and find yourself lapping your stones as lot, maybe consider the more coarse version.

Amazing

Leaves a super smooth and flat finish on my stones. Couldn't be happier! Expensive, but seems worth it.

Worth the money!

I've looked at one of these for years and finally bit the bullet and bought one. I've tried different methods over the years to flatten my stones and none of them worked particularly well and were a bit of a hassle. This lapping plate makes it a breeze to flatten my stones and you know they will be dead flat when you're done. I've also been using it for some light reprofiling work on knives before I move to my 320 Shapton Glass stone and it works great to quickly remove metal without worrying about a stone going out of flat while you're doing it. It's definitely an investment but I've found it to be well worth it. Very happy that I waited and got it from Paul since the service was excellent!

Flat as flat

I waited for over a year to buy this stone flattener and my only regret is I waited so long.... I have been trying to use those common smaller black gritty flatteners and they kind of work a little but my stones were getting more and more cupped. That has come to an abrupt as using this tool my stones are as flat as they were when they came out of the box!! I have found the finish on the stones to be very smooth.... My only regret is I wished I did not waste money on a cheaper stone flattener and started with this one!!!

Very happy with this purchase

I'm very happy with this purchase and the after sales service provided by Paul. I am relatively new to tool sharpening and Paul was very helpful providing strong recommendation and answering my questions post purchase. I am using this lapping plate to flatten my Shapton stones and it seems to work very well.
