Escali developed this unique scale in conjunction with the good folks at the famous King Arthur Flour company in Vermont (where I've taken some baking training myself!) It works like a regular precise kitchen scale, with a handy 3Kg (6.6 lbs) capacity (plenty for just about ANY home recipe!), and accuracy down to 1g (0.1 oz). BUT, it is also programmed with hundreds of different ingredients, allowing you to simply look up a code in an included booklet and enter that on the scale's keypad so you can then weigh ingredients in cups and tablespoons -- VERY handy when you want to use a scale to save time and hassle but your recipe doesn't include weights. Of course you can convert your recipes to weights over time, but this is a great convenience until you can do so (and to help you with the conversion tasks).
