A fantastic starter set. These two knives can get most people through 95% of the jobs they'll ever need to do in a kitchen (add a serrated knife and most people can cover 100%). I really like the Le Cordon Bleu Wusthof knives, because the blade designs are more in line with the good Japanese knives out there, but they maintain the ease of use and maintenance and the high standards of quality and materials that have made Wusthof famous worldwide with both home and professional cooks.

This set includes the model 4581-20 8-inch (20cm) chef's knife, featuring the nice full-tang forged bolsterless design and polished edge that is unique to the Le Cordon Bleu line (and Japanese style knives) making it a little lighter, sharper and easier to sharpen. Also included is the 4065-9 3.5-inch (9cm) spear-point paring knife which is my favourite style of paring knife, and again, the Le Cordon Bleu design makes it extra useful in my opinion.

Both knives are forged in Germany, and the set comes packed in an attractive gox suitable for gift giving. Great for home or professional use, and great for culinary school students as well.
