I rec'd my new Zanmai Santoku today and was very surprised. I spoke with Paul awhile ago and explained that I was replacing my old knives and was looking for something of very good quality. I told him my requirements and that I was a home chef (left handed at that). He made some suggestions, but encouraged me to wait for the new Zanmai knives to come in. Well...am I glad I waited, what a beautiful knife. I have looked at other knives for alot more money and they are not near as nice for quality, feel, appearance and yes price. Messermeister Pro-touch Swivel Peeler

Messermeister Pro-touch Swivel Peeler I rarely buy frozen or canned veggies and so seem to be constantly peeling some big hunk of vegetable root. So I went through a lot of peelers before I found and fell in love with this one. It works, it's efficient, comfortable (with the same ergonomic molded santoprene handle as the rest of the Pro-Touch line), fast, sharp stainless steel blade, and it lasts. It may sound silly, but a really good peeler is a true joy, and actually improves yield, as it takes away a THIN slice off your vegetable, so you're left with as much as the product as possible without throwing half of it away in the form of the thick slices. And since a good one is cheap anyway, don't bother skimping here and getting the "Sir Rusts-a-lot" dollar store version. Nice extra deep plastic bridge over the blade (see photo of model 800-59 below). I've peeled many hundreds of pounds of vegetables with mine. I've tried many others and they all now just sit in the bottom of my drawer waiting for my next garage sale. Pity those poor peelers that they weren't born a Pro-Touch Peeler.
